Hey! I Made the Big Time! I'm being Scammed.
Imagine my wonderment upon returning from vacation to see this:
Hello How are you doing?Hope you are fine,I saw your item posted for sale on internet and am really interesting to purchase it,i will be very great full if you can quickly reply me with exactly condition, your location and the cost price of it .Am Tom by name and i live in Salinas CA Await for you swift response Best wishes. Tom Helflin
I told my cartoonist friend, Tom, that there was something wrong with the inquiry. He skoffed at me, claiming that I don't believe anything. My daughter said that it looked translated with babelfish. Okay. I emailed back with details on how to buy the painting. I spoke nicely to the non-english speaking man with the totally English sounding name.
Hi Tom, I've been on vacation without internet, so I'm sorry for getting back to you so late. You are correct, Tulane is available for $50.00 unframed, and I can ship this to you upon receipt of a check once it clears, or a money order. Traditionally, the buyer pays shipping fees which are pretty low. (couple of dollars) It's already matted. If you are interested in a low cost method of framing, I suggest visiting any art supply store in your area and getting a do-it-yourself frame. and I will get a price on the shipping for you. Also let me know if you have a preference for UPS, Fed Ex or Post Office and where you would like it sent. I appreciate your interest in my work. Tulane is a fun and very colorful piece. I had a heck of a good time painting it. I look forward to hearing from you. To re-cap, tell me where to ship and by what means. I will get back to you right away with the shipping cost and you can send me payment. Sincerely, Jeanne Lafferty Cambridge, MA
Stay tuned to learn what happens next. Oh Boy!!!
