Gratitude

I read Clint Watson's newsletters. Really, I do. But I feel like a bit of an outsider to the marketing world. I have never thought about selling anything. I signed up for this website because I knew it would push me to paint and draw and not give up. Thanks Clint. And thanks to all of you who have visited my site. However, things are changing.Since I'm that old tortoise in the fable, I hope the change is slow and steady. The crabs were enormous fun for me. I was knocked back when Emily Scudder asked my to provide the artwork for her new book of poems. I thank her in every way. It provided a focus for me, and the other result is that Em and two others have asked me for a crab. I felt self-conscious selling my friends (the crabs) so I bartered. I don't believe in long blogs, but some other  time i might tell you what i got for these modest paintings. And so now I am heeding Clint's advice. I have increased the price of most of my work. But I love the barter system. And if I never sell another work, the site has kept me going. I'm not in it for the money, I'm in it for the place that making something with your hands takes you to.
Love,
Jeanne
