Hello Jeanne, By some stroke of luck, or more likely, karma, I happened upon your website, blog what'all, tonite. It's late--12:29am and I was up paying some last minute bills. Was about to go on to bed soon....and then I ran across you, as I'm always piddlin' around anything to do w/ visual arts. First of all, after about 20+ mins I realized that you were being intentionally sarcastic and humorous. Also, this wells up from a place of intellect that I suspect you may have tried for sometime to hide(?!) I would love an opportunity to speak with you to meet the true Jeanne Lafferty. My best high school girlfriend is also a Jeannie. Also my mother told me my middle name from birth was Jean. I used it throughout elementary, junior and high school, as well as on any legal documents--Laurel Jean H. Then at age 16, when in order to receive my drivers license I needed to present my birth certificate. My never previously seen birth certificate....Apparently my mothers intention of naming me Laurel Jean never got past just the "Laurel" part. What happened to the "Jean" part? As mom would later explain: "I thought Your name was/is(?) Laurel/Laurie JEAN...but then I was on so many drugs at the time that now I just can't be sure..." Wow!! for child born in 1951 who would grow up in the flower power, groovy 60's it seems I was off to a good start. It also indelibly marks my association with all 'Jeans' out there. Well, finally if you ever read this I do want you to know I felt Frankie's presence in your 'gesture' drawing of him; when I was in 'art school' (Va Commonwealth Univ--School of Fine Arts, Painting and Printmaking--BFA///ha, ha, try to get a job with a fine arts bachelors degree) we more likely referred to such a study as a 'contour' drawing drawing...Either way, it is a fine little study whose line does express his actions, his quirky, mischievous personality--(right?) It's amazing sometimes how just a few lines--'gestures, if you will--can portray--REVEAL a likeness. That's a sweet moment for the artist. I hope that someday you may read my post and perhaps respond. Meanwhile keep up the artwork and the blog. You, I suspect, may or may have been, a pretty awesome comedian.
